ALL IN A DAY'S WORK

There’s always something happening behind the scenes at work, and these past few weeks have been no exception.

We were sad to say our goodbyes to David C last weekend. Following in the footsteps of his 3 sisters, David joined us as an enthusiastic 15 year old. And, in 7 years, has risen through the ranks from kitchen porter to one of our assistant friers.

I’m sure all our customers will miss his friendly face from behind the counter …… I know we will. We would like to wish him all the very best of luck for the future and look forward to seeing him on the other side of the counter, very soon!

We love to reward our long-term staff here at Anstruther Fish Bar. So, it was celebrations all round recently, as another 2 of our team received their 10 Year Loyal Service Awards.

Gregor started his AFB life as junior potato prep, but quickly progressed to become a top star player in our kitchen team.  He’ll be the first to admit it was daunting in those early days, coming in to prep almost 2 tons of potatoes every day while your friends were all enjoying their school summer holidays. But, ever the dedicated professional, Gregor quickly showed everyone how it was done ….. swiftly, expertly and without complaint.  He still managed to find the time to go fishing, even after a busy day’s work! And, by the way, he makes a mean chicken curry!

We were sorry to learn that our much-loved Craw’s Nest Hotel was changing hands, over 10 years ago. But, excited to welcome David S to our front of house team. With many, many years Craw’s Nest restaurant experience under his belt (we won’t divulge exactly how many), David has become a real asset to AFB. Many customers recognise him from his hotel days and he enjoys catching up with former customers, who still visit the East Neuk of Fife for fabulous fish and chips.  Please take the time to congratulate David if you’re lucky enough to have him serve you!
